Completing Your Teen Driver Ed Requirement

The Texas Department of Public Safety requires teens between the ages of 14 and 17 to complete 32 hours of driver education and 44 hours of driver training in order to apply for a driver's permit. This can be done through an approved Texas parent-taught driver education (PTDE) program. Here's how our approved PTDE program works:

Texas DPS Approved
  1. Register your teen
  2. Complete downloadable packet for DPS and mail
  3. Complete first unit and we will send you free certificate to apply for your permit! (Teens 15 and up can apply for permit after 1st unit with proper DL forms)
  4. Complete course material
  5. Complete 44 driving hours

Online Adult Driver Education

This adult driver ed course was developed so you can complete your TX driver license requirement 100% online. No written tests at the DPS! Once you've finished, we will process your completion and mail the state-issued certificate to provide the DPS when applying for your license.
