Driving School Online: Behind the Wheel Training
Written by Marleen Gonzalez
Going to driving school doesn’t mean sitting in a classroom. You can train behind the wheel with the help of a parent, guardian or driving instructor.
After you complete 32 hours of classroom instruction with a Texas Online Driver Education Course and earn your learner’s license, you’re ready to gain valuable real-world driving experience. By enrolling in an online behind-the-wheel driving school, you'll learn everything from the rules of the road to handling hazards, interpreting traffic signals and staying safe in bad weather. It's a must for any teen eager to start their behind-the-wheel training!
Remember, if you're a teen under the age of 18, you must complete your driver education under the supervision of a parent, guardian, step-parent, grandparent, step-grandparent or a driving school instructor.
What Are the Benefits of Taking Behind the Wheel Driving School Online?
Once you complete your Self-Taught Drivers Ed or Parent-Taught Drivers Ed online, you can begin the 44 required hours of behind-the-wheel driver education and supervised practice.
You can meet Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) requirements by taking lessons with your parents, an approved guardian or a skilled traffic school instructor.
Slide behind the wheel and practice whenever it’s convenient, with no need to schedule appointments or commute to a classroom.
How Behind the Wheel Driving School Works
Once you've completed the 32 hours of TDLR-approved drivers ed lessons and obtained a learner's permit, it's time to get behind the wheel for 44 hours of supervised driver education.
Our Behind the Wheel course provides the perfect platform for a parent, eligible family member, guardian or even a driving instructor to provide you with hands-on driving instruction using our easy-to-follow lessons.
Throughout the course, teen drivers will dive into essential topics such as the rules of the road, traffic signals and signs, potential dangers and more. But that's not all — even more valuable knowledge is waiting for you!
The behind-the-wheel driving course is a dynamic and collaborative learning experience for teens and adults that ensures you gain the necessary skills and confidence behind the wheel.
Before you start behind-the-wheel driving lessons, you have to finish a little paperwork. Once you sign up, a parent or guardian must request, complete and file a DL-92 Parent-Taught Driver Education form. They can request the behind-the-wheel training packet either online or by mail by printing the form. If the packet is requested by mail, it may take up to three weeks for it to arrive.
Once the paperwork is done, you can start your behind-the-wheel lessons. When you’re done, your adult instructor must fill out the DE-964 Parent Taught Driver Education Certificate Order Form for the DMV.
Behind the Wheel Driving Schools Can Save You Money!
Why break the bank on mandatory behind-the-wheel training at a traditional traffic school when we've got a more affordable and convenient option just for you? Our online behind-the-wheel driving lessons give you the opportunity to learn to drive with your very own parent or guardian as your guide.
