Parent-Taught Driver Education Online
Written by Staff Writer
The Texas Department of Public Safety allows driver ed to be completed outside of the classroom if the course is part of the approved parent taught driver education program. This program, also known as PTDE, helps students and parents connect on the important topics of driving safety and ensures qualified adult guidance during driving hours.
How Does it Work?
Each student and parent is required to complete a Parent Taught Driver Education Program Guide along with the online course and submit the information. Once you register for the course, you will be provided the information necessary to complete the parent-taught requirement and begin the online course material.
Texas Drivers Permit
Teens 15–17 can apply for their drivers permit after completion of the 1st unit as long as they submit the proper DL forms. The student and parent or legal guardian must bring your completed forms from the program guide to the DPS. If you have any questions once you've registered for the course, simply contact our live support and we will help you through the process.
